We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (2025)

I have to say, playing through We Happy Few was by far my favourite gaming experience while streaming on Twitch and realistically a lot of that had to do with how great the story was and the honest replay ability of this game.

While I have to admit that I much preferred the main story lines of this game to the DLCs, the reality is that We Happy Few as a whole was an amazing game that I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in an Adventure game.

Now, I don’t often write Achievement Guides for many games that I play, because the reality is that I often don’t feel invested enough into a game to want to go back through everything, but nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to playing We Happy Few. Reality is, after I finished my playthrough of all of the main story and the DLCs I was itching for more, often landing myself into the Arcade or making my way through Survival in order to get more out of the game, but recently I went back into the game in order to collect a 100% score in the game simply because I loved the game so much.

The following guide will take you through the basics of each of the We Happy Few Achievements, though it should be noted that due to the fact that many of these achievements are more intensive I will write more thorough guides about them in the future, linking to those posts as they come out, so if there is something you don’t see at first please feel free to check back or let me know which posts you would like to get rushed.

All of these achievements will be obtainable on the Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4 and Steam.

We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (1)

ARTHUR HASTE-INGS

In order to unlock the “Arthur Haste-ings” achievement players will have to take a single dose of Phlash as Arthur. Phlash can either be found or crafted.

To find Phlash players will have to locate one of the following:

Medical Supplies

Medicine Cabinet

Vending Machine

Located frequently in the Clayton Center of Art & Design

In order to craft Phlash players will need the following ingredients:

10 Night Blooming Nonsuch

1 Sugar

1 Flour Bag

1 Empty Pill Bottle

While players may not feel comfortable taking Drugs because they want to “save them” for moments of dire need, the reality is that players should have enough ingredients to continuously craft this item by mid-to-late game due to the excessive amount of ingredients players will be able to locate in the world.

A BIT OF THE OLD ULTRA VIOLENCE

If you’re anything like me, you’re a huge fan of killing NPCs in We Happy Few and that’s exactly what you’re going to need to do to unlock “A Bit of Old Ultra Violence” achievement.

Players will have to successfully kill 100 NPCs in a single playthrough of We Happy Few, though I personally cannot confirm whether or not this needs to be in a single storyline or if it can span over the first three characters in the main story line.

I would strongly recommend doing this as fast as you can just in case, though there is no downfall to staying in a single character for a number of days as there is really no negative side effect and players are not trying to “race the clock” to beat anything, meaning that players can take their sweet time to ensure that they complete all of their missions before progressing further.

OUR PRUDENT FRIEND

As players explore the world they will begin to notice that some Telephone Booths ring, make sure not to avoid these.

While confusing at first what the phone calls mean, players will want to make sure that they take a listen to all of these Phone Calls in order to obtain the “Our Prudent Friend” achievement.

SHOCKING BIOLOGY

In order to obtain the “Shocking Biology” achievement, players will have to locate an NPC with the name Ryan Andrews and murder him.

Players will probably obtain this achievement if they are trying to complete the “A Bit of Old Ultra Violence” achievement, though the patience a player will need to do this is quite large as there is no easy way to tell who anyone is. My best advice? Kill everyone.

THAT KIND OF GAME

In order to obtain the “That Kind of Game” achievement, players will need to obtain the credentials to the Club, as this achievement requires a few steps I will make sure to cover everything in a future guide.

THE SLAUGHTERER’S APPRENTICE

In order to obtain “The Slaughterer’s Apprentice” achievement, players will have to finish all of the butcher’s apprentice quests.

There are a number of steps to this achievements, though players will be able to initially locate it in St. George’s Holm.

MOTHER OF ALL VICTORIES

The reality is that there are a number of achievements that will not require players to perform side quests or stay away from the main story line and the “Mother of All Victories” achievement is one of those for players as all it requires is that players complete the “Band of Brother’s” encounter which is part of Arthur’s main story line.

THE GREAT LUBRICATOR

Similar to the “Mother of All Victories” achievement, players will not be able to avoid this achievement as it comes from completing one of the main story missions in Arthur’s story where he must hand off the Cod Liver Oil to Sally.

NOT IN KANSAS ANY MORE

Similar to many of the achievements before, “Not In Kansas Any More” is unavoidable as players will obtain it by crossing into the Village for the first time.

ARCHIPALAGIST

The “Archipalagist” achievement requires players to head to each of the Islands that can be explored in We Happy Few. This one should be completable by finishing all the main story, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

THE IMPORTANCE OF NOT BEING SEEN

“The Importance of Not Being Seen” is a bit of a difficult achievement to acquire, especially if you’re someone who isn’t the best at stealth.

Essentially players will have to be able to complete the Mystery House side quest without being seen once. Players will have to crouch and pay attention to footsteps in order to complete this successfully.

CAT BURGLAR

During the quest in “Thomasina House” players will have to spend a good amount of time searching and locating all of the fake cats.

While frustrating, simply due to the amount of weight of all these fake cats, players will have to regularly drop the fake cats on the floor so they don’t become encumbered by the weight

In order to ease your frustration I will write a guide on all the locations soon.

GIMME SHELTER

In order to acquire the “Gimme Shelter” achievement, players will have to locate all of the shelters that Arthur can acquire. It should be noted that all shelters will be marked on the map, though players will have to unlock them individually.

I GOT BETTER

In order to acquire the “I Got Better” achievement, players will have to contract and cure the plague.

Truthfully players don’t contract the plague very often in their play throughs, thus meaning that most players do not have the chemical formula they need in order to absolve themselves from it, being the Penocycycline Syringe, though I strongly recommend having one of these in your inventory at all times especially if you are trying to acquire this achievement in order to quickly use it in an emergency.

Players will initially have to locate this recipe in the second area of the game, the Safe House of Lud’s Holm and will need the following ingredients in order to craft it:

1 Empty Syringe

1 Antiseptic

2 Filtered Water

THE SAINT

An achievement I have to say I’ve struggled with, simply because I’m someone who doesn’t really like stealth games and would prefer to kill everyone in sight is “The Saint.”

As my description alludes to, players will have to finish the entire game without directly murdering anyone, meaning that players will have to complete a stealth version of this game.

DON’T YOU HAVE SOMEWHERE ELSE TO BE?

As mentioned earlier, it doesn’t matter how long it takes you to complete We Happy Few and truthfully “Don’t You Have Somewhere Else to Be” rewards players for playing the game for an elongated period of time.

In order to acquire “Don’t You Have Somewhere Else to Be” players will have to survive 50 days in the game.

Players can easily acquire this by taking long sleeps in beds while making sure that their hunger and thirst is dealt with as in some game modes this can be fatal.

NOW I CAN DIE HAPPY

In order to collect the “Now I can Die Happy” achievement players must die while overdosing on Joy.

Essentially players can force a death while taking joy by rapidly taking the Drug at a Joy dispenser, but I strongly recommend doing this on a non-clear run of the game as dying from Joy is fatal and will require you to restart the game from the beginning.

REMEMBER, REMEMBER

In order to obtain the “Remember, Remember” achievement, players will have to locate all of the memories or collectables in the game. The memories or collectables will be displayed to a player as a mask which initiates a cut scene.

As this is a more intensive achievement I will write a full guide for players so they can easily locate them and ensure that they do not miss anything.

YOU DO KNOW UNCLE JACK

The “You Do Know Uncle Jack” achievement is a bit frustrating to complete as it requires players to wait for specific times of day in order to actually acquire all of the episodes of the Uncle Jack Shows.

Essentially players will have to head to a TV at certain hours of the day to find unique episodes, though similar to some of the other achievements, I’m going to have to write a guide based on the times that you can collect each of these shows as it is quite particular.

SNUG AS A BUG ON A DRUG

When starting out the game as Arthur, players have the choice whether to remember or to take Joy for the first time.

I personally chose to remember because I was wholeheartedly interested in the story, but if you are itching to get all of the achievements players will have to take the initial Joy pill in order to acquire “Snug as a Bug on a Drug” achievement.

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

In the first scene as Arthur, Arthur is trying to go through old newspaper clippings in order to censor ones that make the city look bad. Players will have to censor only the problematic newspaper clippings in order to acquire the “Employee of the Month” achievement and while as straight forward as that can be, it can be confusing for newer players who don’t understand the story that’s about to unravel.

The articles that need to be redacted can be found in this post.

ENJOY THE VIEW

In order to collect the “Enjoy the View” achievement, after players have completed redacting articles and are able to leave the office, they will be able to head to a door on the right hand side of the Hallway.

Players must remove the folder in this door and go to Clive’s Redactor machine, pick up this folder, though it is not necessary for the achievement.

The following post contains the solution of which articles need to be redacted.

DOWNER

Players will not have to do anything other than complete the main story for the “Downer” achievement as all it requires is that players complete Arthur’s intro.

THE ARTHUR HASTINGS

Similar to some of the achievements above, players will not need to do anything specific in order to acquire “The Arthur Hastings” achievement as all players will have to do is complete Arthur’s main story line.

HOT ON HER HEALS

In order to acquire the “Hot on her Heels” achievement, players will have to locate all the notes that are related to the character Prudence.

As this is an achievement that requires players to do a bit of searching, I will cover their locations in a more in-depth post.

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE

When players are in the Secret Radio Room they will have to communicate with Johnny Bolton in order to get this achievement.

It should be noted that this achievement is not part of the main story line, so players will have to go out of their way to get it.

We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (2)

BREAKING BLACKBERRY

To acquire the “Breaking Blackberry” achievement players will have to complete the intro of Sally’s story.

I LOVE THE SMELL OF CHLOROFORM IN THE MORNIN

In order to get the “I Love the Smell of Chloroform in the Mornin” players will have to knock out 50 NPCs with the Automizer.

THE WYRD SISTERS

In order to acquire “The Wyrd Sisters” achievement, players will have to finish the Crones encounter.

THE TOXIC EX

In order to complete “The Toxic Ex” achievement, players will have to speak to Verloc the whole way through while in the Joy Factory.

THE SALLY BOYLE

Players will not need to do anything to acquire “The Sally Boyle” achievement other than complete Sally’s storyline.

GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!

We love a Pokémon callback and “Gotta Catch Them All!” is perfect for that as it requires players to collect 40 butterflies by using Sally’s butterfly net.

SUGAR DADDY

When players are using Ollie, they will have to inject themselves with glucose 10 times. The reality is that “Sugar Daddy” is not going to be acquired by everyone as Ollie has a fairly short story in comparison to the other characters.

LIGHTEN UP

As Ollie, players will have to use 25 lightning rods to acquire “Lighten Up.”

We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (3)

BON VOYAGE

To acquire “Bon Voyage”, players will only need to complete Ollie’s introduction.

MISS BYNG IS INDISPOSED

The “Miss Byng is Indisposed” achievement is shockingly not one that can be missed and doesn’t take place in Sally’s story. Instead, players must complete the “No Place Like Home” encounter in Ollie’s story.

GET THE FLOAT OUT OF HERE

In order to acquire the “Get the Float Out of Here” achievement, players will have to complete “The Jack-o-Bean Club” encounter.

A HEAVY BURDEN

Another unavoidable achievement players can collect during Ollie’s story is “A Heavy Burden” which simply requires players to begin transmitting the video message in Ollie’s story.

THE OLLIE STARKEY

In order to acquire “The Ollie Starkey” players will need to complete Ollie’s story.

We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (4)

SHOULDN’T THESE BE RED?

To acquire the “Shouldn’t These Be Red” achievement, players will need to destroy 50 Explosive Barrels in Roger & James’ DLC.

HEADMASTER

To collect the “Headmaster” achievement, players will need to shoot aliens in the eyes 100 times in the Roger & James DLC.

WELL READ

In order to get the Well-Read achievement, players will have to pick up all of the Lore items, similar to some of the achievements above, I will write a longer post as to where all these are.

METAL GURU

In order to obtain “Metal Guru” players will have to kill all 8 alien robots in the Intro scene of Roger & James’ DLC.

HELTER SMELTER

In order to get the “Helter Smelter” players will need to push 7 Robots into the Smelter.

A SMASHING ADVENTURE

In order to acquire “A Smashing Adventure” players will have to complete the Roger & James DLC.

We Happy Few Achievements Guide - Basically Average (5)

#1 ON THE CHARTS

The “#1 on the Charts” achievement is unavoidable and will be obtained simply for starting the Nick Lightbearer DLC.

ONE DAY IN THE LIFE

Players must survive Day 1 as Nick Lightbearer.

B-SIDE

Players must survive Day 2 as Nick Lightbearer

GOLDEN IDOL

Players will have to vibe to all of the Nick Lightbearer Trophies, if help is needed I can share all the locations of these statues, though they’re pretty blatant.
